Workers, Advocates to Pack Public Hearing and Demand Enforceable Heat Protections

“Water, Shade, and Rest Are Human Rights — Not Recommendations”

PHOENIX, AZ

WHO:
• Arizona Heat Standards Coalition
• Workers and community members impacted by extreme heat, including day laborers, airport workers, and farmworker representatives
• Labor, immigrant worker, public health, and environmental justice advocates

WHAT:
This is not a press conference. This is a critical public meeting of the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health’s (ADOSH’s) Advisory Committee. Workers, advocates, and community members will attend and deliver public comment demanding enforceable heat protections, including guaranteed access to water, shade, and rest.

WHY:
Despite clear evidence that extreme heat endangers workers’ lives and wellbeing, Arizona has yet to adopt an enforceable statewide heat safety standard. This action comes as ADOSH continues to evaluate proposals. Workers, organizers, and allies are calling for immediate action to promulgate a formal heat standard that reflects the urgency of the climate and worker safety crisis.

WHEN:
Wednesday, February 4, 2026
9:30 AM – Meet-up in parking lot
10:00 AM – ADOSH public meeting begins

WHERE:
Industrial Commission of Arizona Auditorium
800 West Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ

VISUALS AND DETAILS:
Participants will gather in a show of solidarity before entering the hearing room together. The public meeting will feature testimony from two dozen workers and advocates, powerful signs and visuals emphasizing the deadly toll of extreme heat, and a unified call for enforceable rights to water, shade, and rest.

LANGUAGE ACCESS:
Spokespeople will be available for English and Spanish-language media.
