Conference Workshop Facilitator Logistics

Welcome, presenters! We look forward to having you join us at the 2019 National Conference on Worker Safety and Health (#COSHCON19) this December 3-5 at the Maritime Conference Center outside of Baltimore, MD. This page contains logistics information that we hope you will find helpful.

Workshop Session Details

  1. Please complete your bio in the Conference App: You should receive an email with a link to your facilitator page in our conference app. If you have not yet received your email, contact Susi Nord immediately. We will use the information in the app to make sure we list your name and organization in the program the way you would like and gives us the best email and phone numbers to reach you. (you can check what you submitted last year here
  2. One person from each workshop should complete the Workshop Information Form: This form is the place to tweak the title of your workshop and to let us know any special information you think will be helpful. We ask for updated workshop descriptions (you can also check last year's information, descriptions start on page 11).
  3. Workshop Session Handouts: All presenters are responsible for bringing their own copies of handouts. We recommend bringing at least 25 copies of each handout. Please try to make handouts available in both English and Spanish so all attendees can benefit from your resources (this is ideal, but we are aware it is not always possible). We have a Google Drive for facilitators to upload resources for all COSHCON Attendees to use. It is organized by workshop time with folders for each workshop. To upload your materials, go to the main folder, then find your workshop's folder.
  4. Audiovisual Info, other needs through Susi: All session rooms will be equipped with an LCD projector and screen, and a VGA connector. We are unable to provide a laptop, so if you plan to give a digital presentation please bring your own device. Requests for additional audiovisual support will be considered but we cannot guarantee availability. Let us know in advance if you are planning to stream videos so that an audiovisual technician can help you load the video before the start of the session. NOTE: The conference center does not use Mac technology. If you will be using a Mac, you must provide your own VGA adapter.

If this is not possible, let us know and we can discuss options. To register for the conference, use this link. Earlybird pricing ends October 18th.

Workshop presenters are responsible for their air and ground travel to the conference, hotel reservations, and meals that are not included as part of Conference registration.

Other Information to Consider for your Workshop Session:

    • There was a conference call to review logistics for workshop facilitators on Wednesday, October 30th, you can view the slides from the call or watch the recording.
    • Plan your workshop to be participatory and interactive! Participatory learning, in which learners are directly engaged in their own learning, is more empowering. People remember more if they are actively involved in their own learning. Here is a great resource with tips on how to facilitate a participatory workshop, click here.
    • As we seek to promote language justice we appreciate your sensitivity and awareness of a bilingual space. There will be interpreters assisting in selected workshops where there is a popular interest by monolingual speaking participants. If you plan to have small group break outs you might want to consider breaking up folks in language groups or ensure there is an interpreter available in the groups Spanish speakers go into.

Thank you so much for helping us to make #COSHCON19 a success!

Please let us know if you need any further information – see you in December!
